We started as a web app because we wanted to move fast and get the core experience right before investing in native platforms. That bet paid off. The personalization engine, double-blind reveal, depth progression, solo mode, voice memos -- all of it was built and refined on the web first.
Now it runs natively on your iPhone.
What the native app adds
Everything from the web app carries over. Same account, same streaks, same history. The native layer adds three things that the browser couldn't do well:
Push notifications. A daily reminder when your question is ready. Your partner answered? You'll know. No more checking the app manually or relying on email nudges. This was the most requested feature since launch, and the reason most people wanted a native app in the first place.
Home screen widgets. A small widget shows your current streak. A medium widget shows today's question right on your home screen. Glanceable, no need to open the app to see what's waiting.
Native performance. Smoother animations, faster transitions, instant haptic feedback when you tap. The web app was never slow, but native feels different in a way that's hard to describe until you use it. The app loads instantly, scrolls without jank, and respects your system dark mode.
What hasn't changed
The core experience is identical. One question per day. Both partners answer before either sees the other's response. The AI learns what works for your relationship and adjusts over time. Questions get deeper as your comfort grows.
If you've been using Aperi on the web, you don't need to start over. Log in with the same account and everything is there.
Pricing is the same too: $7.99/month or $47.99/year, with one free question per day on the free tier.
What's next
Android has since launched too: Aperi is on Google Play, and one account carries your streaks and history across both platforms.
We're also working on interactive widgets that let you answer the daily question directly from your home screen, without opening the app. And richer notifications that show a preview of the question in the notification itself.
New features land in the native apps from here on, so that is where the daily question lives.
